The Best of Czech Literature in the Last 100 Years
The exhibition 100 YEARS 100 BOOKS in the Morava Pavilion (Trade Fairs Brno) reflected the moment of the establishment of Czech statehood in connection with the support of Czech literature and literature, which led to the birth of the Library Act and the network of libraries. 100 Czech books were presented, which sparked interest in the Czech literary history of the past 100 years. Furthermore, the richness of book culture presented inspirational quotes from the best works that encouraged them to think about historical contexts and the future. The Jiří Mahen Library in Brno was the guarantor of the project; the BUT Faculty of Architecture provided the artistic concept. Other project partners: Division of Information Studies and Librarianship, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, Moravian Library, Museum of Brno and Brno City Museum. The exhibition was held under the auspices of prominent personalities of the city of Brno.
What did the pavilion offer?
Except for the exposition, it offered the Relaxation Library - a reading room, new bookshelves, a playroom, giant jigsaw puzzles and a place for parents with children, an Edtech library presenting 3D technologies and applications supporting reading literacy and a Literary Salon full of author readings, discussion forums, theatre performances, interactive workshops, etc. There was also an accompanying program - morning for schools and afternoon for families, the public and experts.

Bookshelves - Literary Benches
Jiří Mahen Library in Brno
Literary benches
have found their inspiration abroad in so-called bookbooths. In KJM we
have developed
the idea of a unique furniture that revives public space, offers
the public interesting book and music offerings and makes the stay in the city
more pleasant.
The uniqueness of the bookcases is the possibility
of their connection
with the city benches. We regularly supplement books in benches. They are
open 24 hours a day and free for everyone. Every passer-by can hit their shape.
The reader can return the borrowed book or replace it with his own. Due
to the appropriate location and availability of benches both in the centre of
Brno and in its city districts, they can also be used by people in difficult
life situations or by people threatened with social and cultural exclusion.
