Libraries Are an Important Meeting Place

A total of 420 libraries welcome readers in Prague. The National Library, the National Medical Library and the National Technical Library are located here. The basis of public libraries is the Municipal Library of Prague, which operates 41 branches and 3 bibliobuses in addition to the Central Library. There are also 41 separate public libraries in the districts and municipalities within the Prague region.

An important part of the libraries in the Prague region is represented by specialized libraries: 106 college libraries, 80 libraries of research institutes, 67 specialized libraries, 32 medical libraries and 30 state administration libraries. Other libraries include, for example, church and school libraries.
