In addition, the mayors and representatives of towns and villages, representatives of libraries, schools and non-profit organizations, media and users did not miss this event.

Libraries in the Ústí Region are not afraid of changes

On June 27, 2018, a public panel discussion entitled Library - A Public Matter took place at the Regional Authority of the Ústí Region. As in other regions, where this cycle of round tables is ongoing, representatives of ministries, regions, cities and municipalities, libraries, partner organizations, and users were discussing what services libraries should offer, what they should be in or should not change where they could find cooperation partners and where to find support.

The invitation to the panel discussion was accepted by Milan Němeček, director of the Library and Literature department, director of Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Jaroslav Faltýn, deputy governor of the Ústí Region Petr Šmíd, councillor of the Ústí Region for Investment and Property Ladislav Drlý, head of the Department of Culture and Conservation of the Ústí Region Adam Šrejber, director of the Volunteer Center in Ústí nad Labem Lenka Černá, dean of the Pedagogical Faculty of UJEP Pavel Doulík, director of the Municipal Library of Děčín and member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Librarians and Information Professionals Ladislav Zoubek, and director of the North Bohemian Science Library Jana Linhartová. In addition, the mayors and representatives of towns and villages, representatives of libraries, schools and non-profit organizations, media and users did not miss this event. Talking about the future of libraries in the 21st century, the importance of inter-ministerial cooperation between culture and education at all levels, the need to anchor libraries as cultural organizations in strategic documents of cities and municipalities and the possibilities of their funding. All participants agreed that libraries still play an indispensable role in today's information society, and that it is therefore necessary to continue to support them, as Lenka Černá, director of the Volunteer Center in Ústí nad Labem, emphasized. Jaroslav Faltýn, a representative of the Ministry of Education, has publicly promised to create it, which pleased not only by the representative of the Ministry of Culture, Milan Němeček, but also by Vít Richter, director of the National Library CR Librarianship Institute, the chairman of the Association of Libraries Tomáš Řehák and the dean of the Pedagogical Faculty of the UJEP, Pavel Doulík. Head of the Department of Culture and Conservation of the Ústí Region Adam Šrejber spoke about the concept of culture in the Ústí nad Labem Region, which unfortunately all towns and villages do not have, and together with the Regional Councillor for Investment and Property Ladislav Drlý they offered methodological assistance to the founders of libraries and other cultural institutions not only with the creation of strategic documents, but also with the search for subsidies. Deputy Governor of the Ústí Region Petr Šmíd appreciated the event as a successful one and took this opportunity to invite to the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Czechoslovakia, which took place on 26th - 28th June. On October 10th, the Ústí nad Labem Region organizes the Litoměřice Exhibition Centre.

The transformation of libraries in the Ústí Region is in full swing and libraries are an indisputable part of the cultural life of a large number of people in the region, as evidenced not only by the number of registered users, but also by visitors. The fact that the future of their libraries is not indifferent to North-Bohemians is also evidenced by the high attendance of the participants, in which Ústí nad Labem beat the capital 3: 1, as the presenter Tomáš Řehák, director of the Municipal Library of Prague and chairman of SDRUK said.
